Best Actor (Critics') Nominee
Rajkummar Rao
An important film on the migrant workers who were compelled to walk their way back to their villages at the peak of Covid. Rajkummar Rao plays the role of a police officer Surya who is given the responsibility of calling for a roadblock but his sense of inferiority complex as a member of a lower caste stops him from calling the actions. As the reality of that phase comes to life Rajkummar Rao’s character finds himself surrounded by utter hopelessness as he is attacked by political threats, sobbing families and lack of facilities. His character forms one of the main talking points of the film on how your caste can’t decide the importance of your survival.
